NEET Exam
Medical Science is a broad term that covers areas such as biochemistry, molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, microbiology, neuroscience, physiology, nutrition, pharmacology, toxicology, vision science and biomedical technology. Medical science students learn in depth about the human body; developing skills and knowledge on how the human body functions and how it reacts to disease and the drugs that are used to treat disease. Knowledge base from a wide range of essential science and health disciplines including anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, genetics, pharmacology, population health, and physiology. This knowledge base can be easily and flexibly applied by graduates to a wide range of potential postgraduate education pathways in both health and science, and numerous potential professional related career paths.
NEET Exam Details
The National Eligibility and Entrance test is an entrance examination for students who wish to study any medical course in government or private medical colleges. Any graduate Medical courses like MBBS/ dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course like MD/MS.
NEET will be conducted by CBSE in a pen and paper based mode. NEET has replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) as well as all state level medical entrance tests and will now enable admission to all government, private and deemed medical and dental colleges/universities across the country.
Apart from AIIMS and JIPMER, only NEET will provide admissions to MBBS and BDS programs in government, private and deemed medical colleges in India. There are various states that did not participate in NEET exam so they have their separate exam called CET abbreviation of common entrance test.
Candidates who appear in National Eligibility and Entrance test has Eligibility criteria as declared by the CBSE. Candidate appearing for National Eligibility and Entrance test must be Indian National or Overseas Citizen of India. Candidates must be at least 17 years of age and age limit for general category candidates is 25 years, the age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates is 30 years. Candidate must have the qualified class 12th exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Biotechnology (PCB), Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
What is NEET Medical Exam
Candidates, those who belong to general category must have secured at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Biotechnology (PCB), and SC/ST/OBC candidates have to obtain a minimum of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Biotechnology (PCB).
The question booklet will consist of questions from the syllabus prescribed by the exam conducting authority, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The exam will be held for 3 hours, Syllabus for NEET include State syllabi as well as those prepared by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE).
NEET exam includes 180 Number of questions which are multiple choice questions (MCQs), Various Language like English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.
Distribution of questions are as follows, 90 questions from Biology and 45 questions from Physics, and 45 questions from Chemistry. Each correct response is given 4 marks, it also has negative marks where -1 is deducted for each incorrect response.
Candidates who are planning to appear in NEET must check the last year question paper and sample papers. NEET sample paper will provide a basic idea that what would be the standard of questions. Further, this would also help candidates in improving question-solving skill, time management skills.
The cut-off of the candidates to get admission in the top colleges is given based on the previous year analysis. The cut-off is the minimum score required to get admission, it will be decided based on factors like a number of students appearing for the exam, difficulty level of exam, previous year analysis, etc.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct NEET Counselling for 15% All India Quota seats, tentatively in the month. The counseling will be conducted in two rounds in online mode for allotment of MBBS and BDS seats in government medical and dental colleges across the country.
