UPSC IAS Pre Exam Pattern 2018
So the IAS Preliminary Exam will be consisting of two parts Paper I and Paper II.
- The exam set will be available in four series A, B, C, and D.
- The questions will Multiple Choice.
- The paper will be available in both English and Hindi.
- 1/3 of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

Civil Services Mains Exam Syllabus 2018
The Main exam for IAS shall also be consisting of two papers Paper I (2 parts) and Paper II (7 parts).
Paper-I (Optional language): Applicants are to choose any one language from 8 languages included in the eighth schedule of the constitution. For candidates from States Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim this paper is not compulsory.
Paper II (English)
This paper is to judge your overall English comprehension skills. The paper would be mainly based on:
